The 2026 Mazda 6e EV Debuts, Taking On The Tesla Model 3 In Europe.

Considering a new Tesla Model 3? If you’re in Europe, it might be worth waiting until the end of this year, as Mazda’s upcoming electric 6e could be a strong contender.

Mazda 6e EV debuts in a European version of last year’s Chinese EZ-6, is a stylish sedan with a liftback rear, offering greater practicality than the Model 3. Following Mazda’s Kodo design language, the 6e features an LED-framed grille, with lights that flutter to show the battery’s charging status.

The 6e has a sporty look with frameless door glass, a low roofline, and an active rear spoiler. Its rear-wheel drive layout suggests the driving experience will match its sporty appearance.

The 6e isn’t extremely fast in either of its versions, but it comes with two battery options. The smaller 68.8 kWh battery offers up to 300 miles (483 km) of range, charges at 200 kW, and can go from 10-80% in 22 minutes, adding 145 miles (233 km) in just 15 minutes. The larger 80 kWh battery extends the range to 345 miles (555 km) but takes 45 minutes to charge from 10-80%.

The smaller battery gives the 6e 255 hp (258 PS) and a 0-62 mph time of 7.6 seconds. The larger battery reduces power to 241 hp (244 PS) and adds 0.2 seconds to the 62 mph time. Both are slower than the Tesla Model 3, which hits 62 mph in 5.8 seconds.

The cabin is more welcoming and less minimalistic than the Model 3’s, while still emphasizing digital displays. A 10.2-inch screen shows instrument data ahead of the driver, along with a head-up display, and most vehicle functions are controlled through a central 14.6-inch touchscreen.

The 6e will be available in mainland Europe in the second half of 2025, with UK sales beginning early the following year.
